City Park Foundation’s Seeds to Trees Program

Committed to enhancing communities through the creation of vibrant, thriving parks, the City Parks Foundation operates programs such as Seeds to Trees, which provides elementary and middle schools with outdoor field experiences. Each year, the program works with 16 to 20 schools in high-needs communities to offer an engaging curriculum that explores nature and urban ecology in New York City parks.

Through Seeds to Trees, students engage in hands-on activities and science content in the classroom, as well as field trips to city parks. Created in alignment with New York State Science Learning Standards, the program invites students to cultivate a personal connection to topics such as urban wildlife, forest ecology, and biodiversity. For adolescents who wish to continue their learning, the program offers summer and internship programs.
